CENTRAL HOSPITAL, MARGHERITA

        Central Hospital , NEC, Margherita is one of the oldest hospitals in the north-eastern part of India with a bed capacity of 112 ,catering comprehensive health care services for its employees , peoples of surrounding area and covering eastern part of Arunachal Pradesh as well.

        During the World War II, the Hospital was established by the British to serve their Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) for the Myanmar front. It eventually came under Coal India, and was converted into the main hospital for its NEC division (Northeastern Coal Fields).

        Previously the Coal Industry was under amalgamated part of the then ART & Co Company till it became nationalization in the year 1973 and followed by the incorporation of North -eastern Coal fields under Coal India Limited.

        Central Hospital is located at the core of Margherita town just 500 m away from Margherita bazar towards South and the bi-pass approach road between of Margherita town Club and Bhupen Hazarika Park with a distance of 150 m away from 37 NH. At the time of World War II, the Hospital began its journey as a hospital of Ledo which is now the Ledo Dispensary, later it was shifted to its present location. The Coordinates of the Hospital is: 27°17'28"N, 95°40'37"E.

        At present, the Hospital consists several departments such as: of Medicine; of Surgery; of Obstetrics & Gynecology, and ENT, Eye, Dental, Pediatrics & Radiology services and Emergency services as well.

        Central Hospital NEC is also equipped with Digital X-Ray, USG along with state-of-the-art medical equipment’s in Operation Theatre (OT). From diagnosis to rehabilitation, the doctors and the paramedical staff take care of the patients with a humble approach, round the clock. The hospital has full-fledged In-patient & Out-patient departments along with twenty-four- seven emergency facilities. It also offers Preventive Healthcare Services along with specially designed health check-up for Periodical Medical Examination for the employees & Annual Health check up of Sr. Executives under PRIDE with an aim to preserve and promote good health and facilitate early diagnosis and treatment of illness.

        The annual patients turn over in the Hospital around 27,000 to 30,000 /year as Out patients and 2,000-22,00 / year as in patients. By offering such Health care service, the hospital also earns revenue for the NEC.
