The Coal Heritage Park & Museum was opened for public on 29th October 2012. The park showcases the glorious past of erstwhile Assam Railways Trading Company Limited (a British Company incorporated in England) engaged in coal mining in the region along with various other allied businesses and North Eastern Coalfields, Coal India Limited after Nationalization of Coal Mines in 1973.
The incessant stream of school & college students, apart from the curious visitors to get a firsthand glimpse of coal mining industry from the day of opening in 2012 to till today speaks volumes of its success. The Coal Heritage Park & Museum is undoubtedly the knowledge bank of the masses & the students about Coal mining and historical facts relating to the Coal town Margherita and Coal India Limited in particular.
